If you're shocked or surprised at the homophobia, racism, misogyny, and general discrimination being exposed on Twitch, it's time to take a hard look how much you've ignored to this point - consciously or not.
We all like to think we're "one of the good ones," born and raised as moral, decent, good people. But we all have biases - whether our own fault or not. The sooner we can admit this, the sooner we can take real action. A passive participant is still a participant in the problem.

It's so easy to denounce the extreme racist. But the daily microaggressions within our communities and systems (health, gov, law, etc.) are the truly insidious and damaging mechanisms of discrimination. The most benign-sounding things often have long roots in racial/social bias.
Questions like "where are you REALLY from?"
Terms like "getting gypped" and "Indian giver."
Statements like "I don't see colour."
Actions like putting your hand on a female co-worker's back when talking to her.
Assuming your gay friend is automatically attracted to you.
