The assault on the capitol has reinforced the (neo)liberal position that prison, police, and the carceral state are necessary. Pay attention to how (Neo)liberals want to "punish" Trump and co.

It is the same language used to suppress liberatory/abolition movements.
The reason why any of this "healing" language is acceptable is because (Neo)liberals *believe* that the political ideologies of Obama, Clinton, and co. are not only the best way forward, but the only way forward. This is how Pelosi can look back at Reagan with nostalgia.
The left/abolitionists have 2 enemies. The right (the more explicit form of white supremacy), and (Neo)liberals, the post-modern, tech-global-new capitalist iteration of the same beast. Allies cannot be found in either.

And if we're honest, the easier battle is with the right.
