The UK is currently publishing less data on its otherwise impressive vaccine rollout than other countries.

I've done some international comparative analysis for @CFPData.

The UK has had a fantastic start to its vaccination rollout.

But it's currently publishing far less detailed data on who has been vaccinated, and where supplies are going, than many other countries. (2/9)
Israel, currently leading the world in vaccinations per head, publishes a breakdown of how many people in each age decade have been vaccinated, in each of 279 districts.

And Germany reports daily how many people have been vaccinated by state and priority group - healthcare worker, key worker, etc. (4/9)

Reporting a single headline number on anything can create incentives to drive up that number, even if that's not desirable (this is known as Campbell's Law).

If the UK just reports total vaccinations, there's a risk we may not focus enough on higher priority groups (6/9)
I don’t want to be too harsh here. This roll-out is happening in emergency conditions, so it’s entirely understandable that initial data wasn’t gold standard.

But it’s now over a month since vaccination started. (7/9)
Yesterday, the vaccine rollout plan committed to publishing "regional breakdowns" from Thursday - but nothing more than that.

Hopefully the UK data will soon be improved to include info on supplies, and numbers vaccinated in each priority group and local area. (8/9)
