There's a lot of interest in the Indian Americans who participated in the insurrection. At the same time, people wonder: Where do Hindu Americans who *support Modi* stand in relationship to MAGA? Within this world there's a serious rift so allow me to share what I know [THREAD]
In recent months, within the Modi-supporting diaspora, there is anger from the Trump-supporting camp aimed at Biden supporters.
"If you love PM Modi and Bharat, how can you love Biden-Harris who spoke so much against CAA, Kashmir and other issues that are Anti-Bharat?"

One Trump/Modi supporter put it bluntly on a big group email:
"For Hindu Americans the Choice is Crystal Clear:
Jihadis + Black Muslims + ANTIFA + democRATS + Radical Left
v/s
Trump"

Statistically Hindu Americans are highly likely to support Biden. This is recent data from @sarasadhwani -- it also suggests that higher support for Trump among Indian Americans correlates to *higher support for Modi*. https://sarasadhwani.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Indian-American-Election-Survey.pdf
Some U.S. Hindus now accuse the Howdy Modi leadership of having sold out, partly by endorsing Muslims in local races. They say:
"Let’s work to empower Hindus & Hindus only." Any deviation from this will "appease mullas."
"No direct or indirect dealing with any Pakistanis!"

Among Hindus, much anger that a Cong candidate they backed, @SriPKulkarni was targeted by S Asian progressives & lost to a Republican he outraised. Because he accepted campaign funds from RSS supporters. https://www.dissentmagazine.org/online_articles/a-reckoning-for-the-modi-democrats
Among Modi's party faithful, there is fear that Twitter's suspension of Trump sets a dangerous precedent. They are worried that Big Tech will take aim at other world leaders. This fear will certainly reverberate in the diaspora. https://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2021/jan/09/us-president-donald-trumps-twitter-account-suspension-dangerous-precedent-bjp-leaders-2247854.html
