NEWS: AI hiring platform HireVue—which @EPICprivacy targeted last year in an FTC complaint—says it is dropping the facial analysis component of its job applicant screening tool. https://www.wired.com/story/job-screening-service-halts-facial-analysis-applicants/
EPIC's complaint called out HireVue's unfair and deceptive use of facial recognition and HireVue's far-fetched claims that its platform could evaluate "psychological traits," "emotional intelligence," and "social aptitudes" based on video of applicants.

Even without facial recognition, HireVue's AI-based platform still raises plenty of fairness and trustworthiness concerns—moving to a speech-based model without any other changes is just shifting the problem to a different medium. Still, this is a big deal!
Correction: EPIC's complaint was filed in Nov. 2019, not last year.
