This is a monkey paw government - anytime they are forced to bring in a mildly sensible policy they enact them in the most dehumanising & damaging manor:
•They create a furlough scheme but it doesn’t provide much support to freelancers and has been constantly up in the air so it is impossible for business to properly navigate their future.
•They finally offered support to the hospitality industry but by forcing the public back into enclosed spaces probably being a massive contributing factor to the second spike (killing many people)
•They finally gave into calls to close down schools but make sure to announce it as late as possible and make it unnecessarily difficult for teachers, parents and students!
•they finally give into @MarcusRashford and say they’ll give free school meals to those who need it but they provide way to little food and the food they do provide is sub standard. (Everyone shouldn’t only have access to food but to delicious food too)
This is only a small snapshot of all of their terrible governance. And they did all of this while vastly enriching their friends. Sometimes I’m taken in by the veneer of incompetence but if they were, they’d accidentally enact better policies than these at at least sometimes.
They are directly responsible for the deaths of 80,000 people (not to mention those who have died from the decade of austerity and those who have been murdered overseas by the Tories and previous governments).
This political system is necrotising our society, our communities, our loved ones, our abilities to love more broadly and deeply! People I know directly who I speak to everyday, who I love with all my heart suffer tangibly & daily from their actions, even before Covid.
I’ve spent a lot of my waking hours, particularly over the last 10 months consumed with hatred for those who constantly deny the material reality we live in. Very few people are enriched at the expense of the rest of us!
Now more than ever we can see the cost of this ideology in human lives. Often we want to silence those who suffer because we find it too difficult to hear their stories. We’d rather continue with ‘normalcy’ because it seems too hard to change things for the better.
Anyway, solidarity to you and yours & hate and dissolution to your enemies.

I better go and do some breathing and grounding exercises so I can continue to be a productive member of the machine.
