Basic nutrients that are missing from today’s Standard American Diet (SAD):

1- Vitamin A (Retinol): Nearly no one is getting enough unless eating quality animal fats in animal organs or beef liver. Supplement with 10,000 IU.

2- Vitamin D: Ideally from the Sun, but if you work 9-5 in a cubicle wearing a suit, that becomes a tall order. Supplement with 5,000 IU per day and test to verify blood levels above 50 ng/ml.

3- Vitamin K2 (MK-4): Essential for building bones and declassifying tissue. Supplement with 45 mg as Menatetrenone. This one is fat soluble, so take it with food.

4- Iodine: this one is rampantly deficient and nearly no one is getting enough. Essential for thyroid health and hormone regulation. I prefer organic whole food sources such as kelp. Aim for the average Japanese intake which is 2 mg (2,000 mcg) iodine from kelp daily.

5- Magnesium: Has been depleted from soil long ago. Important for balancing calcium, building bones, neurotransmitters. Involved in 300 enzymatic processes in the body. Aim for a minimum of 400 mg as glycinate.
