If you’re gonna share Black creatives as a sign of support, part of that support means protecting them from any harassment that comes from your audience, because you’re the one who put them in that space.

Don’t just share and disappear if/when harassment happens.
This used to happen to me when folks would share an article I’d write. They’d share from my post or tag me, then they’d get someone (or multiple someones) who’d harass me in the comments and say nothing... even if they KNEW the person because it was someone from THEIR space.
And don’t be like “oh that’s just (insert name) just block them.” No. That’s someone YOU know. If you want to support me you can’t just excuse bad behavior, part of that support is YOU dealing with the trash around you. If you can’t do that then don’t share me at all.
“But my platform is huge I can’t fight everyone.”

1. At LEAST make some kind of post where you say you SUPPORT who you shared and how harassment won’t be tolerated

2. If you’re a platform that people use versus a single person, STOP the folks who use your platform from using it
Big platforms sharing Black creatives shouldn’t be a burden on us. I remember getting shared on big platforms for cosplay back in the day and my first thought should NOT have been “oh no.” But that’s EXACTLY how we feel because too many spaces do nothing about discrimination.
