Short Passing- Arguably his best trait is his short passing. With Busquets reaching the twilight of his career ,you won't find another DM whose short passing is better than Rodri.His passing accuracy is high and he almost never gives away the ball in his own half.
Strength and Height- Rodri has a well built physically and is perhaps the strongest member of the City squad and that strength comes in handy for him to recover a ball. At a height of 1.91m Rodri offers us aerial presence in defensive situations as well as in attacking situations
Breaking the press- People who watch Rodri play regularly will have noticed that Rodri never loses his composure even when being pressed by multiple players. He has this uncanny ability to thread controlled, accurate passes in between players even while being pressurised.
Positioning when in possession- Ever since Rodri came we have seen City use multiple shapes when in possession of the ball which wasn't done earlier with Fernandinho.The most common variant being when Rodri drops as 3rd CB to give fullbacks more freedom to attack.
Conclusion:He does have a few things to improve as well, he needs to initiate fast counter attacks like Fernandinho did;his reading of the game needs to be better,hopefully it gets better with experience.

P.S. :City fans should stop slandering him for no reason at all when we lose. He's one of our most consistent players. I'm not trying to say he's better than Fernandinho but he sure doesn't deserve the meaningless slander he gets.
