If your marketing. Look away now.

Marketing is an enormous part of what makes the modern world a hellscape

Marketing exists to make you feel inadequate and unhappy. We are, from the day we are born, inundated with the capitalist cry that our lives aren't exciting enough,
our food is not good enough, our leisure not exotic enough, that we're cleaning wrongly and reading the wrong book and are really missing out on the latest film. Your wife won't love you unless you buy her this or that, and if your kids don't get that latest educational toy, how
will they grow up properly adjusted?

Hey, you haven't how started saving for your funeral costs yet?

There is a constant psychological attack on every human in a capitalist society: we are supposed to feel unfulfilled, and to be reminded every day that our life is one
of discontent. A content person is the absolute anathema of capitalism.

I love how brands try to be your friend. "They" have social media accounts to encourage engagement. Or, in the worst advert I've heard recently, Spotify makes a terrible joke and thanks you for listening -
the simple and wholesome act of gratitude was recorded by a voice actress at the behest of some marketing genius who used graphs to show that this was the engagement that would best fit whatever demographics they've nailed me down to in order to leech money off of me.
Worse, there was actually no me in consideration - I was part of an aggregate number, not a person, to have this pretend interaction with. It is cynical and inhuman and destructive.
