No slight to any men who have tossed their hats in the ring, but honestly one of the most consistent thing I have noticed about the women who have stepped up to run for #nlpoli is that almost every single one has something on their resume that was basically... 1/5
"I saw a problem facing people in my community and I created a simple, effective, grassroots solution to alleviate or solve it." Most often, these projects or programs are self-funded, with a skeleton crew of volunteers, and mostly achieved through the individual woman's work 2/5
And that is exactly why women are such integral members of their communities and why they make fantastic representatives. They put people first. They look for simple solutions and do the labour - emotional and other - to solve it. They don't get bogged down, they act. 3/5
There is much research on how women create more positive outcomes for everyone because of their focus and understanding of social policy - education, children, health care, etc. We also tend to create a collaborative rather than adversarial environment. 4/5
That's why I am so excited to see so many women stepping up for their communities, regardless of their party affiliation. We need good people in all places. We need good policy in all places. Women - I am proud of you. We can do this. 5/5 #BeHer
