This celebration of Mike Pence lays it on a bit thick. The bottom line is that Pence refused do his duty. He never confronted Trump about his lies and he implicitly endorsed the stolen election theory in his campaign stops in GA in Dec and Jan./1 https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-pence-breakuo-capitol-riot/2021/01/11/6a6aa052-5357-11eb-89bc-7f51ceb6bd57_story.html?tid=ss_tw
AFTER the Electoral College formalized Biden's victory on Dec 14, Pence continued to campaign in GA as if the election results were still in doubt. As he said on Dec 17, "we’re going to keep fighting, keep fighting for every legal vote in America."/2 https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pence-georgia-vows-trump-will-keep-fighting
In GA on Jan 4, Pence said, “I know we all have our doubts about the last election and I want to assure you, I share the concerns of millions of Americans about voting irregularities. I promise you come this Wednesday, we’ll have our day in Congress.” /3

He expressed his "doubts about the last election" TWO DAYS before the Trump-inspired violent siege of the Capitol. How could @jdawsey1 & @AshleyRParker not have mentioned that, until the end, Pence stoked conspiracy theories of the sort that inspired the violence of 1/6? /4
Pence did his job on January 6th but I'm not sure that he deserves praise for doing so, especially given his role in amplifying bogus charges of election fraud, and suggesting the conclusive results of a democratic election could be fought, up until two days before that. /5
