Just wanted to share with my booky-type followers about a project I've been working on during this lockdown and the processes involved from start to end (THREAD).

As a school librarian, one of my key roles is to ensure access to reading materials. When pretty much all students
started learning remotely from home last week, I immediately decided to do something about it. Kids have had TWO WEEKS at home over xmas and many will have read their library books and not all will have books at home. So I started to contact a number of children's and YA
publishers to enquire about potentially recording myself reading aloud some of their books. This was really important as I didn't want to infringe any copyright laws. I got a couple of responses saying that I could only read aloud as a live performance or if I was recording
Myself that I could only access like 5-10% of the text. I persisted and found the wonderful @BarringtonStoke would allow me access, under the following reasonable conditions - 1. I check specific titles with them, 2. the recording could NOT be made public so had to be available
On a closed platform for students, 3. All recordings had to be taken down by the end of March. So...I got too it. I chose a book, checked that I could use it with the publisher, recorded myself reading it aloud. Then I uploaded it onto Show My Homework and added it as a flexible
task so that ALL students within school could listen to it during tutor time at home (suggested by our lit co-ordinator and agreed by our deputy head). Basically, I'm going to add at least one book every week for however long is needed to ensure my students have regular access
to quality, short books from home, that take just around 20-30 minutes to listen to. All credit to B. Stokes as they have been incredibly generous in this difficult time. Anyways, I recommend giving it a go if you're a school librarian or teacher who wants to keep the love of
