Seeing tweets by other women telling women that all you have to do is simply not care about what men say and you can do what you want sexually is so narrow minded. It ignores so many things.
1. Straight women care because firstly they want a man! You always want to be desirable to your potential mate, and if your potential mate has harmful misogynistic views against women and their sexual activities then that may hold you back heavily.
2. The disrespect that comes from being judged about your sexual activity is not only verbal. People have been harmed, even killed for it by men. It’s not always as easy as “hehe, just don’t care what they say or think lol xoxox”
3. Adding to point one, some straight women have been made to feel undesirable for other reasons like skin tone, body shape and even physical appearance and they feel that their options are slimmer of finding a mate.. making them less likely to want to add to slimming it more.
4. Cultural reasons and religions reasons. Some don’t want to go against their culture/religion and some want to marry cultural/religious people, so in order to do that, they know they have to care. Also their not caring, can lead to point number two again.
And many more reasons. I’m all for us actually not giving a f about what men say but the reality is you lot say it like it’s just so simple and women want to care. We don’t live in a dream world where not caring suddenly changes everything.
Oh yeah and once again the burden and responsibility ends up back in the hands of women. It’s no longer, men that need educating so their mindset changes so they’re no longer threats! But women have to change the way they think!! Stop caring gals.
