#Thread ...since the hype started on @signalapp i thought i would actually give the privacy policy & T&C's a review to see what the real beef is ..i will write down a few of my notes here but first an overarching statement...

Yes @signalapp is free , yes it runs on donations, yes it is a non-profit, BUT we are old enough to know that nothing is for free or it will come a time when it will collapse, so it might be the answer now but will it be around in a few years is something we will find out...

Now my notes on the privacy policy and general T&C's of @signalapp :
1. You must note that Signal's privacy policy applies as long as in the app, since the app allows access through it to 3rd parties, in that case you are bound by 3rd party privacy policy which is different

2. Terms indicate messages are encrypted no clear explicit language if @signalapp also encrypts messages that happen in group chats ?

3. You can end the agreement with @signalapp anytime as per T&C's by just deleting the app, however it does not say that they will erase your data when you do so ?

4. @signalapp says they limit technical information stored with them to the minimum they give some examples but they do not rule out or say if they store or not information like your IP, IMEI , serial etc...

Last , its important to say while not privacy related that with increased dependance on #whatsapp for business purposes , @signalapp can not be considered an alternative in that domain as they do not guarantee service as per their T&C's
