This week, 10 yrs ago, I reported in my first job after December graduation. Town was Jozi. I quit in 3 months
. Since then I've worked in 4 other places, a combination of development economics, health technical assistance, public policy and research etc

In the last 10 years I've attended 11 job interviews:
-Was unsuccessful on 3
-Was successful on 8
-Received 8 job offers, accepted 5 and declined 3 jobs

The 5 offers I accepted was because:
*they promised growth
* had higher pay
*had friendlier working environment
*were in line with my life's objectives & passions
*contributed to well-being of humanity

The 3 offers I declined:
*Did not promise a lot of growth
*Offered little pay difference
*one would move me from being a core staff to a support staff (there's a big difference)
*One did not look sustainable

The 3 jobs I wasn't successful at were really good. On two of them, I was among the two final candidates. Friends I know got the offers. I congratulated them, accepted defeat (job interviews are competition), and moved on.
When may you quit a job?
*when pay remains stagnant for too long

*congratulate those successful if you know them
*ask for feedback why you were not selected and use this to become a better you
*Move on to other options and never quit applying

*thank the employer for the offer, it's a privilege
*give reasons why you're not getting the job. Don't lie
