GauPees trolls have evolved and organized themselves. I hope this will give tweeps (especially Muslims) some insight into their activities & how they are managed from the top of BJP chain.

GauPees are literally a rupee a dozen in India - given the dismal employment conditions there.

And there are a lot of free college grads looking to make a quick buck to make a downpayment on their pakoda stall. There is a lot of competition there - and a lot of hard work.

So what does a GauPee who wants to network in the corridors of Hindutva powers & pick off the juicy breadcrumbs that fall off their table to do?

They volunteer to join IT cells - contrary to popular myth - they are not paid Rs. 2 per tweet. They are paid in hopes & dreams.

Meet @Deshi_Army - a vast network of GauPee trolls that is based in California.

Why California? Because what they are doing - targeted harassment and defamation is a crime in India - but comes under FoE in the USA.

Groups like these are where the trolls start their lives.

. @Deshi_Army goes after any account that is even mildly critical of Hindutva policies in India and they do it under the pretext of - you guessed it - nationalism and patriotism.

Even if you do not belong to the proscribed groups - you will be labeled as such and hounded.

. @Deshi_Army is controlled by @OfficeofDA which takes in high level requests for account take-downs.

Here is . @MODIfiedVikas congratulating . @Deshi_Army on the takedown of @saliltripathis account. . @verified Hindutva accounts act as conduits to most of these hate groups.

. @OfficeofDA is handled by @AskAnshul aka Mota bhai - a Hindutva operative currently based in Singapore.

Anshul was promoted to this role after a spate of doxxings and arrests of Indians accused of anti-national SM posts after the Pulwama incident.

. @OfficeofDA and numerous such sister organizations are managed by BJP operatives. These include @KapilMishra_IND who orchestrated the Delhi anti-Muslim pogrom in Feb 2020.

The older guard of abusive trolls under Amit Malviya has evolved.

So here’s . @Bhgwa2020 directing another reporting group to take down a Hindutva regime critic. This completes the link from @narendramodi and @KapilMishra_IND down to coolies like . @HuntDownAccount.

The handle will then be relentlessly trolled and reported to @TwitterSupport

The lower level trolls take over. They monitor different groupings and fault-lines among Muslims - & instead of trolling or abusing - take advantage of it by amplifying them.

For instance, @IndiaOSInt has blocked all accounts it targets - only the audience sees this tweet.

So instead of an Indian Muslim criticizing their government for non-performance and persecution - it becomes something more sinister. An anti-national funded by “foreign powers” to destabilize and destroy India. That narrative is also getting stale.

They have gone as far as to use the Saudi-Turkey relationship issue to polarize Indian Muslims. And they know exactly which account to target to increase their response.

These targeted harassment is against @Twitter and @TwitterSupport policies. However, these groups operate openly and sometimes with logistic support from @TwitterIndia to silence Hindutva critics - and @vijaya @misskaul can't do @jack about it.
