what mlm/nblm fetishization actually is, a needed thread

lately i have been seeing the word “fetishization” used wrong when regarding mlm ships, so as a mlm i am going to tell you what mlm/nblm fetishization really is

first, what is mlm/nblm? mlm is “men loving men” and nblm is “non binary (people) loving men”. i will be using these a lot so knowing what they mean is necessary.

what is fetishization? fetishization in simple terms is only focusing on the sexual part of a relationship, and in this context the sexual nature of a mlm/nblm relationship. meaning, if you ( a non mlm ) only consume sexual content of a mlm ship+

you are fetishizing the relationship. if you only care about the sexual part, it is fetishization.

examples: only reading nsfw/smut fics of mlm/nblm ships, only talking about who “tops” and “bottoms” in said ship, etc.

shipping a minor with an adult is also fetishization ( and pedophilia ), even if at one point they are both adults. one character knew the adult when they were a minor, it’s not appropriate.
examples: obikin , quibi (these are the ones i think of off hand)

what fetishizing is NOT: shipping two men together. you can ship two men together and that’s not fetishization as is. a non mlm shipping two men isn’t fetishization unless they solely consume sexual content about the relationship.

this only applies to FICTIONAL MEN, not real men. ship real people and you’re gross that’s just how it is.

please, if you are not mlm/nblm, do not speak on what you think fetishization is. along with that, use the word fetishization correctly. not everything regarding a mlm/nblm ship is fetishization.
