MEGA THREAD:
Why Carson Wentz would succeed in a Lincoln Riley offense.

Idk how long this is going to end up being but in the next tweet or two I am going to start off with some key things about a Lincoln offense that is crucial to how it works
First: Because they are in the Big 12 Oklahoma gets the reputation of being an Air Raid offense when in reality that is not the case. Last year OU threw the ball 47.40% of the time and the year before with Jalen only threw it 41.6% of the time. Lincoln's offense is run first
The primary run for this offense is a GT-Counter play. Here the Guard and Tackle both pull to the play side crating a ton of blocking for the running back to work with. The most creative thing Lincoln does with this is creat passing plays using the same blocking scheme
Here watch the LG pull out to the right with the bootleg of Baker Mayfield sucking up the LBs and causing the safety who is loosely playing the middle of the field to hesitate, allowing for the deep post. Carson to Reagor would be money on this https://twitter.com/i/status/1018294314852470784
You like using running backs outside of the running game? So does Lincoln. 2 Back set here and #4 (Trey Sermon) sells the run fake and pulls off to block while the other back releases behind the backers after selling a block. Easy read for QB https://twitter.com/i/status/1048607978574811139
A play like this would help Carson by just giving him easy reads and a play that would work even if the offensive line isn't playing their best ball because it is fully reliant on eye candy. Carson's ablility to move defenders with his eyes would be a huge asset for this as well
Another thing Lincoln does extremly well is get guys open. Here Hollywood Brown appears to be running a 4 yard hitch, except he pauses for a second and then accelerates into the open field in the middle that was cleared out by deeper routes. Easy throw https://twitter.com/i/status/999728491624062977
Just imagine a guy like Reagor or Quez on a route like that. Again it is all about creating explosive plays without making it hard on the QB
Doug's offense last year as shown here, was the opposite of creating easy throws or getting guys open https://twitter.com/i/status/1336464701249769472
Its hard to see here but Lincoln offenses always have crossing routes incase the QB has to scramble which would absolutely help Carson in comparison to 10 yard hitches everywhere. Sidenote: Spencer Rattler's arm talent is bonkers and he will be the #1 pick https://twitter.com/i/status/1309898892151001091
You think I am joking about Spencer? This throw is insane. Btw, its a throw Carson can make. Riley often will put his fastest guy (Mims here) in the slot to run a post against a safety for matchups. Rather than... sending Reagor on a fade every 5 plays https://twitter.com/i/status/1304924772569174017
Actually on that last play it is more of an over route than a post, this is something Riley likes to do a lot in order to shred zone defenses even though this is man and Mims just flat out beats his man
When he needs to adapt his playcalling he will. Here are some more stats from when Jalen was QB and it just shows how much Riley is willing to lean on the run game. Sanders would be immensly successful in this system https://twitter.com/i/status/1199351083929354241
This play is just.... something, and there is no reason why you need a QB like Kyler to run it, Carson could always pull this ball if they dont respect his legs which makes it just as dangerous https://twitter.com/i/status/1050929244136648704
Again the run fake here is amazing. The other thing I love that Lincoln does to help Qbs and the Run game is use a full back, here the FB acts like he is blocking before releasing into the flat for an easy throw. I wish more teams used FBs like this https://twitter.com/i/status/1083157037612183552
Btw Riley has been know to remember exactly what play he called at random points in games from 3 years ago. It could be a simple 2 yard dive and he remembers
Here another fantastic job of isolating the fastest guy on a safety and just letting the QB thow it into the endzone. Again, have I praised Spencer Rattler enough, my god https://twitter.com/i/status/1344569456035557377
The creativity in his offenses are just simply unmatched. Orbit motion with a flea flicker, lol thats just fun football. It also shows why the run game is so important in this offense https://twitter.com/i/status/1184082556175687680
BAKER MAFIELD IS THE SAME SPEED AS CARSON IMAGINE THIS https://twitter.com/i/status/1266389846412742656
To wrap this up as you can see, Riley makes his offenses exeedingly QB friendly by playing to their strenghts and just scheming guys open. Watching him call a game is art really. There are so many other plays that I can show but I think you can see just how...
... easy it would be for Carson to work in this offense. Plus, there would be no more only giving Miles 10 carries a game because the PA game is a huge part of this offense. Seriously just go watch any OU QB highlights and you will see the scheme work its magic and Carson fits
