In 1979 Museveni's FRONASA fought alongside Tanzanian soldiers & Ugandan militias who together overthrew Idi Amin.

Milton Obote won the disputed elections of Dec. 1980. Museveni--as head of the new 'National Resistance Movement'--launched an insurgent war.

Here's Museveni signing a peace accord with Okello in Nairobi, 17 Dec. 1985. President Moi brokered the agreement.
The peace accord lasted for a very short time: by January the NRM was on the offensive, accusing Okello of murdering hundreds of innocents.
