Most Westerners have never been a part of a traditional society or seen one function. However my background let me watch a traditional agrarian Catholic society transition into modernity.

And it becomes abundantly clear why feminism and progressivism win out.
My grandmother's generation were deeply devout Catholic farming women all with 6-10 kids. Yet they also all encouraged their daughters to delay marriage in preference for education and career. Why did they do this?
Because for many women in a traditional society, marriage is a risky deal. They all knew dozens of women dealing with abusive husbands, deadbeat husbands, alcoholic husbands, exploitative in-laws dishing out treatment that bordered on slavery.
When a woman has never been independent (financially or phytologically) she will remain miserable in those situations. So those women encouraged their daughters (my mother's generation) to become more independent so they would have autonomy and incomes to buffer those risks.
Across the world hundreds of millions of working class and traditional women embrace education and work not because they want to be "Manhattan career women" but because they don't want to be the dependent in a shitty marriage with a bad husband/in-laws.
And consistently I see the religious/traditionalist faction make the same mistake.

Idealizes traditional norms, ignore the glaring issues. Feminists/progressive solutions arrive and yet you still offer no alternative solution to the original problem. So of course you lose out.
You may say that feminism and progressivism will cause its own problems for women. Yeah okay, but people are focusing on the problem facing them today, not the one they may face in the future.

I see this repeat itself with the new generation of Canadian born Indian girls.
They saw the challenges and shortcomings of traditional norms. Saw them go unaddressed by those with the power to fix them. And now will take it upon themselves to avoid it. If their actions cause new problems at least they caused it instead of a mother-in-law.
Westerners miss this, and that's not me blaming you. I only know it because I seen it first hand. I see value in traditionalism, it's why I post on it so much. But I won't idealize it to the point that it becomes a fantasy detached from reality.
Here's one issue facing many trad societies. On this issue, like many others, progressives and feminists are speaking up. Social conservatives making the horrible mistake of staying quiet. https://twitter.com/akhivae/status/1348805843991584773
