So lets say for the sake of argument the Saturn was involved in the Vasi hit and run. I have guesses but will not say who. This person talks Maura into trying to hide it. Though she needs a car. The decide to disable the Saturn, and tell Fred it is it is not driveable.
Fred drives up to UMASS grabbing cash on the way. They spend the day looking around and find nothing. Since Fred is unaware of the Saturn being involved in the hit and run, he lends M his Toyota. Plans change. Since they can't get rid of the Saturn, the next move is to fix it.
Except, there is no accident report, and by now police are combing local Auto-repair shops to see if there are any cars showing up with front end damage, looking for suspects in the Vasi hit and run. Not going to be able to fix it without calling attention to the Saturn.
So, this person again talks M into intentionally crashing the Toyota. This is done by getting out of the Toyota, and letting it go across the street to hit the guard rail. No one in it, and possibly with the airbag fuse removed. This was going to be towed to a place of M's choic
Except, the Hadley cop stopped there just being on patrol, or was called. (God forbid he try and contact the cars owner, Fred.) M talks the two truck driver to bring it to the hotel. Then calls Potters in the AM. If M knew someone there, then they could up the assement, and fix
the Saturn, or by the parts under the radar. Except that the police had already showed up, and this now was not possible. Change of plans again. Take time off of school, and crash the Saturn into a tree, giving an explanation for the damage. Except that they were caught in theact
M starts to get cold feet for having to cover for them, this had gotten way out of control, and fears getting caught. She wants to go to the police, but this person silences her in the next few days. This is obviously a basic outline of the theory, not perfect, but it covers alot
