This will be for PhD students in the UPenn music dept., but students from other depts (and advanced undergrads) are also welcome.
I planned this course in coordination with my medievalist colleague, @ChannenCaldwell . Mary will be teaching a grad course titled "Music and Sounds of Difference in the Global Middle Ages." Students are welcome to be in both. We're using 1500 as the rough pivot.
@ChannenCaldwell and I came up with this idea of linked grad seminars on the formation of musical ideas about race and difference by talking informally to some of our grad students. They were super helpful!
