One of the best initiatives I've seen when talking about open source was @PrometheusIO and @ThanosMetrics contributor office hours. Unfortunately, I think it's not common knowledge that it is a thing đŸ€”

Let me share why I think that this is awesome 👇
Async communication is key for remote work and open-source, but having that sync call once a week can accelerate soooooo much our contributions.

Before this initiative, I was stuck on an issue for literally 3 months. Solved in two 20 min calls 🙃
Currently, I'm working on a design doc for @PrometheusIO. I'm a pretty recent contributor, so I'm not sure about all existing possibilities for the problem I'm trying to solve.

The sync call is helping a lot to get this doc into a nice shape.
If you have unreviewed PRs, issues, or design documents, if you've never contributed and want to get started, or if you are stuck on something. Just attend the office hours, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
The maintainers are super friendly and are a bunch of talented people when talking about Software Engineering

Let's abuse those office hours not only to contribute to the projects but to become better engineers ourselves 🙂
Oh, almost forgot xD

Those meetings happen every week, if you'd like to participate just add an item to the document.
