In the Governor's #StateOfTheState re: #COVID19 and not wanting anymore lockdowns, he stated "[F]or many families 'lockdown' doesn’t spell inconvenience; it spells catastrophe… zero income, inability to make a payment, eviction, foreclosure, and real personal anguish." 1/
Yet, he said nothing about streamlining our overly complicated and ineffective unemployment insurance program, or increasing the 2nd lowest in the nation amount. 2/
He said nothing about providing funds to help struggling families who can't make next month's rent or mortgage or extending the eviction moratorium and making the process to apply for it more simple 3/
He said nothing about appropriating the $88M in federal childcare funds we received under the CARES Act that would allow parents who perform essential work during this pandemic to ensure their children are cared for in a safe and healthy environment . 4/
And he said nothing about CARES Act $ being used to provide “child only” cash assistance/TANF to informal kinship families who currently get NO support while they prevent children from going into DCS custody and child abuse hotline calls expected to soon dramatically increase. 5/
Those problems and things like opioid abuse, alcoholism, addiction, mental-health issues, loneliness, suicide, etc. won't go away because you refuse to take stronger actions. But more people will be infected, and more people will die from #COVID19. AZ deserves better. End/
