#DivinationForLiberation means to me, as a white person, decolonizing the mind/body with astrology. It means recognizing the cult of whiteness & rejecting it, sticking to this commitment even when it makes me uncomfortable or requires sacrifice.

Because the truth is that if you are white like me, then you have been spoon fed the doctrine of colonialism, individualism, capitalism & the patriarchy since birth. You have been taught to uphold it at all costs. It’s so deeply imbedded in you that you cannot separate it from

Your own identity. It’s been passed down to you through your DNA by your ancestors for generations. And the work of separating yourself from this is a lifelong process, there is no easy convenient way to remove yourself from thousands of years of history that are still ongoing.

And the fact that white terrorists can storm the capital building aided by our president with virtually no consequences or response by our political leaders is proof that it’s still happening here in real time. To you, to me, to us. To your BIPOC friends you claim to care about.

I ask you to stop looking for an easy way out. There is no reward for this work or badge of morality for you to pin on your shirt/profile. To be anti-colonialist, anti-capitalist, anti-patriarchy, anti-racist, anti-white terrorism then you have to make that choice EVERY DAY.

And as an astrologer, tarot reader, or spiritual practitioner of any kind, then you have to make that choice in your work too. You have to intentionally incorporate it into the meaning of your work. You have to be vigilant, you have to be willing to listen & understand others.

Most importantly you need to recognize that sometimes you will be wrong & make mistakes. It’s how you take accountability for this & change your behavior that matters. It’s how you make your life and actions a testimony of your beliefs.

And if you are white and what I have said here makes you feel angry or defensive then good. I want you to analyze that. Because if you have truly done nothing wrong & this doesn’t apply to you, then there is no reason to defend yourself, is there?
