Over the past few weeks & days especially I've had lots of mates getting onto me asking questions about #crypto, how to get involved, where to buy, what to buy etc. So I said I'd write a thread of things I wish I knew when I started & stuff that I've learned along the way (1/n)
So I first started getting involved in crypto in June 2019 cause, similar to right now, #BTC was flying up📈. At the time I had a vague idea of what #Bitcoin was but didn't really know too much of the specifics other than there would only every be 21 million of them, EVER (2/n)
So I decided to put around €1,500 into #BTC . It was going okay for a few days but similar to anyone who would've bought in the last two weeks, I had bought the top. $BTC price started falling like a stone & I had no idea about markets so I didn't sell until about 6 months (3/n)
Later for about a 70% loss #FML. This loss was because I had no idea what #BTC actually was, had no idea about market cycles & I was basically an idiot so my first piece of advice for anyone looking to get into #crypto is to #DYOR (Do Your Own Research) (4/n)
Just because someone tells to invest in something/has made lots of $$$ on it, doesn't mean you should just blindly follow & throw hard earned cash at it. Find out everything about the coin, what it does, why is it needed, what partnerships, number of coins, where to buy etc (5/n)
My second piece of advice would be to stay away from trading, unless you have already traded in other markets and know what you're doing, trading is a mugs game unless you're sickly informed. Investing will always trump trading in the long run & it's far easier to do (6/n)
My next bit of advice is on how/when to buy. For buying, I recommend a DCA (Dollar Cost Average) strategy. Eg if you have $1000 you wanna put into coin like $ETH, everytime you see a nice dip, buy $100 of it for 10 times or else or else every Friday by $100 for 10 weeks etc (8/n)
This helps ensure that you get the lowest possible average entry & you aren't as effected by mad price pumps or dumps, which can often happen in #crypto as shown the last few days being down 30% from the ATH (All Time High)📉💩☠️. (9/n)
Next thing is where to buy your #crypto. The two best exchanges imo are @coinbase & @binance. Coinbase is a bit easier for a beginner but 4% fees (shit). Binance is a bit harder but more markets and less fess. I would recommend Binance & I add money via SEPA bank transfer (10/n)
The below are links to setting up accounts for both. The @coinbase one will give you $10 for free once you buy $100 of #crypto while the @binance one will give you slightly less fees. Like I said, I prefer Binance. (11/n)

The next step is to pick what to actually buy, I personally don't own any #BTC even though I think it will hit $100K this year (see pinned tweet). I only invest in $ALTS. Alts or Alt Coins are any coin other than #Bitcoin . $BTC is the King of #Crypto & will be for a while (14/n)
As regards to what I own myself, this is my portfolio at this very second, all $ALTS, no #BTC . Every Altcoin here has a real world utility & is being adopted into businesses & enterprises globally. #DYOR on some & see what you think! $OCEAN $LINK $UBT $RSR $ALBT $ETH $DIP (15/n)
Some important things I wish someone told me when I started: #BTC is the King, generally is the price of #Bitcoin goes down, nearly all $ALTS will go down too. If the price of $BTC goes up fast, price of $ALTS go down, but when #BTC goes sideways, ALTS are booming🚀 (15/n)
Cashtags are a brilliant way to keep up to date with your alt to see what is going on with it, follow analysis and price action etc. A cashtag is putting the $ before a alt ticker eg $LINK, click the blue cashtag & it will show you all other tweets with that cashtag. (16/n)
Cashtags are a great way to find like minded people to follow in relation to your coin. Most coins also have a Telegram group. I recommend downloading the app and joining the Telegram rooms for your coin(s) of choice. I'm in all mine & they give great updates (17/n)
There will be lots of big rotten dirty pullbacks during this bull run, today was a prime example of this. During the last bullrun, #BTC has 9 (!!) pullbacks of 30% or more. Everyone was a brilliant buying oppurtunity, like today is so I've been buying discount $LINK 🐂 (18/n)
Other stuff that's good to know is if someone thinks price will go up the are a bull or are #Bullish 🐂, if the think price will go down they are a bear or are #bearish 🐻.
When you are looking at the charts, higher timeframes are far more important than lower timeframes (19/n)
As regards time from 1 year > 3 month > 1 month > 1 week > 1 day > 4 hours in order of the significance of trends that are in the charts. In a chart, a red candle shows price decreasing while green is increasing. It's important to know what support & resistant in a chart is(20/n)
Abbreviations you may see around & what they mean:
ATH = All Time High
FA = Fundamental Analysis
TA = Technical Analysis
PA = Price Action
DYOR = Do Your Own Research
BTFD = Buy the Fucking Dip
DCA = Dollar Cost Average
TL;DR = Too Long, Didn't Read
OK;LG = OK, Lets Go! (21/n)
In conclusion, I think there's never been a better time EVER to get into #Crypto. These coins are being used more & more evryday, crypto is being adopting into mainstream business & there's huge money to be made if you pick the right coins, DCA & just hold, it's that easy! (22/n)
There are so many people on Crypto Twitter ( #CT) that are so knowledgable, it's insane & they will always help you. Twitter is single handedly my best tool for investing cause I follow the right accounts. If you're looking for accounts to follow I have to lists for you (23/n)
One called "Crypto Signals" which has people who post top tier info & analysis, the other is "Crypto" with far more accounts, noise & shitposting! I doubt anyone reads this far but if you do & have any questions, DMs are always open. Hope this helps! $OCEAN $LINK $UBT $RSR(24/24)
