It's really frustrating growing up being psychologically tortured as a mutant with white hair and then having folks steal your face and hair after your success and retirement without any recognition and use it to brand themselves and make money and tell you you're imagining it
Waardenburg Syndrome is not a fashion statement or a trendy look. It's my face and my life and the face and lives of others. It is not a costume you can slap on. It comes with a lifetime of people telling you you're a freak and a monster.
I feel consistently like nobody will extend understanding to folks with genetic mutations and their appearances being stolen and replicated for fashion or likes because, why? I don't know. We're not represented enough? I'm told I should be grateful. It doesn't feel good.
It does not feel good to extend understanding to folks, thinking they're being respectful, and then to log online one day and see your whole ass face and image replicated and belonging to someone else. That does not feel good. I am not grateful for that.
Try to extend understanding to this: for my entire life I've been told that I'm monstrous and ugly for the way I was born, had to come to terms with the fact that they were wrong and I was fine, to become successful online with my image and then to have it taken from me (cont'd)-
- by folks with NONE of the lived experiences of having this genetic mutation. Experienced none of the isolation, harassment, alienation, and subsequent mental health issues - to take my image when it becomes acceptable and then profit from it. Please.
I'm gonna go have a hot shower before the stream to calm down. Please enjoy your afternoon and tune into the stream later where I will be much chiller lmao - we're playing Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall today, big throwback RPG! Love u.
Think critically.
