My thoughts on how we should set up:

I think Lampard’s comments on the 433 were interesting yesterday. So that’s why I will be sticking with the 433 as I think it’s the best system for us in my opinion and the system we’ll use going forward anyway.

Yesterday we started a team that looked like this. Very very balanced team. Has a player in both half spaces and channels as well as one in the centre. It has enough cover as well to stop transitions we face. I know the opposition were poor yesterday but this is a good sign.

Why? I think in this rough patch Lampard hasn’t made the team balanced. Yesterday showed that he does understand balance and hopefully we see it from now on something more like this. Which is why I am looking to this lineup or something similar in our PL games.

This has been tweaked a little bit to suit the personnel we have with our stronger team. You might see Chilwell operating in the left channel instead of our LW. This is because we need Chilwell to still drive with the ball in these positions.

Not only is that a strong point for Chilwell but so is his final ball. If he plays there he can do these things rather than playing inverted as it will not be making use of his main qualities of crossing from wide positions and linkup out-wide.

I have put Odoi in the half space as Chilwell is on the left channel. Odoi will be fantastic here. He will have great angles to work with and have the option of a overlap from Chilwell or a one, two with Tammy who is in the box and he usually takes people on better on the left.

Tammy middle, self explanatory. Havertz right half space. This is so he can play in and around the box more and also allows him to make his smart runs. I know not many people don’t like him at 8 but I don’t see a big problem imo. I think we can still get the best out of him here.

He can play close to the striker when we enter the final 3rd. Havertz tends to drift to the right in Germany anyway so he’ll naturally just find himself there. It works. I put Ziyech on the right channel but this can be versatile in a way where we see him and James interchange.

This will mean James can cross from wide positions like he’s been doing and Ziyech will play a deeper role where he can pick out passes. Or James inverted like shown on the picture and Ziyech can still pick passes but outwide.

There will be a midfield 3 formed as well in attacking parts of the game. Having this balance is good because it’ll allow us to stop transitions MUCH better and it’ll mean we won’t get overran in midfield at times.

What are your guys thoughts? This is what I’d personally want us to play.
