When Jay arrived @NHLFlames in 2009, he asked us if he could get involved with HEROS. Only stipulation he had was no media or cameras. What followed was 4 years of him coming to tie skates and share the game with kids who saw him as Jay, not an NHL player https://twitter.com/PierreVLeBrun/status/1348709099245096969
When his career took him to @StLouisBlues he spent time every off-season with Calgary HEROS, including driving 3 hours each way for fishing days. Always sent signed sticks to use as awards and educational incentives. Even included us in his day with the Stanley Cup
This past spring Covid first hit and we went to Zoom gatherings. Jay was our first guest. He confirmed he wouldn't be playing again. He was then instantly moved to a 5 minute conversation about Disney princesses (he is a #GirlDad x3) because that was important to our player
When a guy whose on ice resume is what people can only dream of, it is so amazing that they realize there are lots of things #BiggerThanHockey The hockey world, indeed the whole world, needs more people like Jay
