Many Republicans are calling for unity. If they want unity, let me suggest a few things they need to do first: 1) Stop using language about democrats that we are radicals, communists, and anti-American. Since Obama got elected, that has been their go-to attack. 1/8
2) Apologize publicly to democrats about what they have done by using that language. They did it for political gain, and need to show some leadership and own up to how their own rhetoric the last 12 years led to Wednesday. 2/8
3) Never ever utter anything that suggests this was not predictable. It was. By saying that, rather than owning your role, you are trying to absolve yourself. That is selfish, not unifying. 3/8
4) Change your behavior. Let us see actual, genuine moments and outreach seeking unity, rather than using it as a political talking point. The unity calls right now are so cynnical, it is beyond angering. You have spent 12 years demonizing us. 4/8
5) Stop attacking Nancy Pelosi so harshly You have turned her into such a freaking monster in the minds of your base, that it is amazing this was the first assasination attempt on her. 5/8
6) Admit you were wrong about Trump. Leaders admit their mistakes, learn from them, and become better leaders. 6/8
7) Kick those who do not go along out of the party. Take away committee assignmnets, Do security clearance reviews. Shut off funding and donations. It's not that hard - you already did it to Steve King. 7/8
Democrats have getting a second chance as a core value. It is embedded in our views towards addiction, criminal justice and so many other ares. Please, for the sake of country and our lives, take that second chance and run with it. 8/8
