I can't stop thinking about what some of the Latina custodial staff in the Capitol experienced on January 6. Many only speak Spanish, probably were not notified of what was going on, and don't twitter. I can only imagine their faces as white supremacists charged..
at them. I have yet to see any articles that focus on their perspective (if there are, please send them my way). It also doesn't help that they are subcontracted so probably won't have the same access to resources and help they need as other staffers will have.
Many of them are survivors of the brutal Salvadorian civil war where over 75k civilians were killed. So they're probably getting flashbacks to those days. The least we can do is offer Spanish-speaking therapists that can be there for them, time off, and other resources.
