Why do footballers earn so much money?
[THREAD]
We live in a world where your income depends on your value for society. The value of footballers like CR7 provide is that they entertain us. Of course saving a life is much more important than entertainment, but a CR7 brings joy to millions of people.
They deserve the wages they generate themselves. Its simple: the best players make their clubs countless millions every single year through marketing. And as everywhere in the world of work, they usually make even more money for their club than what they're being paid.
Another important point that we need to consider is that footballers are Impossible to replace. For example there are millions of people around the world who can become a lawyer or a doctor, but how many of them can become world class footballers. This makes them unique.
What people often forget is that contrary to an average person who earns money over 45-50 years while footballer's career only lasts 15-20 years if he's lucky. After that, they have to start a new life & somehow try to integrate themselves into the normal world.
And this problem is even worse for lower league footballers. We only talk about the superstars, but but there's so many players out there in worse leagues. Yet these guys also dedicate their life to football. What will they do after their career.
Last but not least. Only a few people realize what sacrifices you have to make to become a footballer. You can forget about your childhood, Barely any time for friends, staying under insane pressure. Who would want that? Most people wouldn't but they're always quick to judge
