I am sent a lot of books that fall into the ‘thriller’ category whether that be psychological, crime, domestic noir and what I’m seeing is a shift away from those bam bam twist bam stories to ones that are more slow burn with investment in the characters and I’m liking it
. #TheImposter @whartonswords is very character driven. I loved the pace and the unravelling of the story. A really good debut that is coming in April.
. #TallBones @annafbailey is an atmospheric, coming of age, small town America set story that has lots of fans here on Twitter. Also a slower told tale. Out in April.
I’m a fan of @lucyclarkebooks and this is her best yet. She explores female friendships esp siblings so well and here it is wrapped up in a mystery. I got Sarra Manning’s proof and she got mine 😉 out in March
Another exploring sibling and female relationships is @callytaylor’s best yet #HerLastHoliday Yes this will be put into the ‘thriller’ genre but it’s about more than a ‘twist’. Another slow burn character fuelled read it’s about discover and acceptance. Out in April
