Today, I put on my PPE as I head back into a jk/sk classroom @BloorviewSchool. I am an Educational Assistant, a frontline worker. I provide intensive medical interventions and ADLs for one of the most vulnerable populations.
Many individuals are not aware that according to the province’s framework disabled children can be offered in-person learning. This is to ensure that our communities most vulnerable children have access to consistent support.
Last week, I watched the students I support and their families strive to participate in virtual learning. I observed parents/caregivers balancing many roles. The resilience, courage and determination of these families is indescribable.
I write this to encourage you: Please wear your PPE. Please social distance. Please, please, please stay home. Keep the children I support safe. Keep my colleagues safe. Keep me safe. Stay home, stay well and love one another
