DC Mayor Bowser is asking the Department of the Interior to cancel any and all public gathering permits, and to deny any new public gathering permits in DC from January 11-24
DC DOH Director LaQuandra Nesbitt says residents may experience some pain at the injection site, sore muscles, fatigue, or mild fever as side effects of the Covid vaccine. "This means the vaccine is working," she says.
The city is encouraging residents to register for a vaccine as soon as their phase is announced.
Asked whether she'd request the inauguration to be held in private for safety concerns, DC Mayor Bowser says "the transition of power happens when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are sworn in...that event should be public."
