We saw the same nationalist xenophobic rhetoric from the politicians and the media before both the Brexit vote and the Trump vote.
We saw a woman killed by someone who supported that rhetoric on both sides of the Atlantic.
The same attacks on the judiciary.
Trump expecting his nominated Supreme Court Justice to back him up on his voter fraud claims.
UK press calling our Supreme Court the enemies of the people for simply upholding the law.
MPs told Boris Johnson they were getting death threats and Johnson told them that if they wanted to feel safe again, they needed to get Brexit done. That's literally using the threat of violence against MPs.

And Trump told violent far-right groups to stand by in case he lost.
The idea that what just happened in America couldn't happen here, given the hatred that the Brexit politicians have infected people with....

We need to take a long hard look at what our country has become.

(This is just the stuff that happened to me. Owen Jones had much worse.)
So did we really need to let Brexit happen, despite it no longer being the "Will of the People" just to keep the violent extremists happy?

Or have we let the beast loose because we were too scared of getting scratched trying to cage it?
Sorry MPs, but you don't get to vote to hold a referendum you knew UKIP was behind and which was skewed in favour of the undefined option...
...then use the social instability it creates as an excuse not to do the right thing because you're scared.

Millions more will suffer now.
