CES is all-virtual this year, kicking off this morning with 5am PT press conferences, and it is already weird, feels out-of-step with what is going on in the world, and has resulted in an exhausting number of emails about products we can't see in person.
Samsung just showed off a dishwashing robot, used the concept of turning old TV boxes into coffee tables as evidence of "sustainability," and plugged its upcoming smartphone event this week — which is *not* a part of CES.

So far this is true. So far, more talk about plans for upcoming Tokyo Olympics and technology support for Covid-impacted restaurants than wild displays. But I can appreciate the sober tone, versus the hyped-up look-at-this-freaking-gadget approach https://twitter.com/thekenyeung/status/1348649428341714950?s=20
Trying this again, with correct spelling: Panasonic has smushed a microwave, a convection oven, an air fryer and a *broiler* into one gadget and this might be the #CES2021 news that people are most excited about so far
Canon USA CEO Kevin Ogawa, who took on CEO role in April 2020, says his timing could not have been worse. Refreshing honesty at #CES2021 .
TV maker TCL is hopping aboard the foldable display train, though they're calling it "rollable AMOLED."
Keep in mind that any tech company launching some kind of ship-ready foldable display has likely been working on the technology for *years*—long before the pandemic. They're going to push ahead with it no matter, and hope there's a post-pandemic place for it.
I looked at this sentence for at least 30 seconds too long while I tried to understand what "AIxIoT" means and pronounce it like a word: "There will be updates on TCL’s success around the globe as well as the company’s AIxIoT strategy."
At first I thought it was a new @inafried newsletter
These are not smart glasses, they're wearable displays, obviously https://twitter.com/LanceUlanoff/status/1348668612106727428?s=20
