Trump could not incite his mob to attack the US Capitol without a Big Lie. That lie was that the election was stolen from him. For that lie to have currency and power, Trump needed leaders to promote his lie or be unwilling to tell the people the truth. He need collaborators. /1
In Louisiana, those collaborators were our Republican members of Congress: Sen. John Kennedy, Reps. Steve Scalise, Garret Graves, Mike Johnson, and Clay Higgins. To varying degrees, these men supported and amplified Trump's Big Lie. They refused to acknowledge the truth./2
But it wasn't just these members of Congress. It was Louisiana's Attorney General, Jeff Landry, and other leaders of the state's Republican Party. They promoted the Big Lie. They are collaborators with Trump. They helped foment an insurrection. /3
But it wasn't just these elected officials. It was staff members who didn't demand they tell the people the truth. These congressional staffers and other staff members are collaborators, too. They participated and helped promote the Big Lie. They helped foment an insurrection. /4
