Have Anxious Thoughts?

A Tale of Overcoming Them.

/// Story by N8 \\\\\\
This might be a lengthy thread so make some popcorn and settle in:

It began for me when I had an indescribable feeling one day, one I'd never had. I couldn't quite calculate what was wrong.

All I knew was my thoughts had become pessimistic and I was unsure of how to cope.
I did what any person does when they can't understand themselves, I went to the source: my mom.

After discussing my situation with her, she recommended a psychiatrist. I was skeptical at first but who am I to argue with my mother?
Leading up to my first session, I was filled with anxiety; an emotion I could not yet comprehend.

After a hour-long meeting, I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety and the discomfort of my thoughts became understandable.

I was prescribed 50mg of Zoloft to be taken once daily.
The pill seemed to work for me- well kinda.

The medication dulled not just my negative thoughts, but the positive as well. This became frustrating for me.

I started to question, "Is this robotic-like thought pattern worth it?"

The simple answer was no.
The issue is that our minds are not simple, they are just as complex as the anxiety that was rooted in my head.

I made a choice.

I would rather feel everything than nothing at all.
There were 4 key elements to my understanding and defeat of anxiety:

🚀I stopped taking Zoloft
🚀I found clarity in my head
🚀I joined 'Mindset/Money' Twitter
🚀I confronted my thoughts

If you're still reading, I appreciate you sticking around!
I stopped taking prescribed medication for 2 primary reasons:

💡It had control over my thoughts
💡Medicine was a distraction from real happiness

Zoloft took away my identity and flattened my thoughts.

It numbed who I am.

Imagine a corn field... my thoughts were that flat.
So what next?" I thought

If I could not beat anxiety, I must understand it.
I discovered anxiety is merely a feeling.

While I didn't appreciate medication, Zoloft led me to this discovery.

After taking the medicine, I was able to understand the differences in myself on, and off, the pill.
I chose an overwhelming path, one that forced me to deal with the anxiety that overcame me at times.

I learned to become comfortable within my own thoughts and mind.

Now how'd I do it?

Remember, you are what you scroll through.

If you choose to focus on negativity the world holds, that's great- but that negativity will portray in your own life.

Consume content that brings you happiness. It is the first step in changing your mindset to better your life.
A changed mind leads to changed thoughts. You have the power to choose.

When you are content, it becomes easier to deflect those negative thoughts and in turn control them.
Controlling your thoughts parallels to driving a car:
As an an engine needs fuel to run, your mind needs positive influence to succeed.

What you view on social media daily, holds powerful influence over your subconscious.
Change the content you consume to pleasure the mind you seek.

If you hold the confidence to control your thoughts, you can.

Change happens when you actively work for it.
With that being said, I hope this helps all it may apply to.
Feel free to share with friends, family, and all who would benefit.

It has been a journey discovering myself and comfort within and I'm thankful for all who have been here for the process!
