#Lockdown has prompted workplace closures, reduced work-related travel and altered living patterns, with #environmental impacts shifting to homes across the UK. Here are five tips to help work towards a cleaner post-pandemic future for our #environment... [thread]
1. Take steps to reduce your own carbon footprint. @CountUsInSOCIAL has 16 steps from greening your money to switching your energy so you can find a step that suits you. Simply choose a step, keep it up and track your progress.
2. Tackle food waste at home – meal plan wherever possible, store foods correctly to extend their freshness, and compost unavoidable food scraps – remember, you don’t need a garden to compost!
3. The @EnergySvgTrust has information on how to improve the energy efficiency of your home, from insulation to PV panels to only boiling as much water as is needed. @Waterwise offer equivalent advice to help save water as demand has increased by 25% during the pandemic.
4. Cut down on using the car by cycling or running to combine daily exercise with trips to the shops. 🚲 With limited daylight hours, consider taking meetings outside - even a 10-minute brisk walk can increase mental alertness, energy and positive mood.
5. Support small businesses and local supply chains by shopping with local independent shops.
