So, some tentatively positive coronavirus news.

According to the latest NHS data, cases are decreasing in all regions where tier 4 restrictions were introduced in December. https://bit.ly/3bqIq4v
Regions where Christmas bubbles were cancelled are showing a decrease in the 7-day rolling average of cases.

There's also a slight decrease in the North-East.

All other regions, they're still going up massively.
Breaking the regions that went into tier 4 on 20 December down further, only nine of 50 have seen an increase in cases.
There's similar but less pronounced effect for those areas that went into tier 4 on Boxing Day.
BUT overall infection numbers remain sky-high and a lag between infection and the onset of severe illness means hospitalisations and deaths will likely continue to rise for a number of weeks.
