I asked my Instagram followers how they felt about school / education and I got responses from all over Wales and beyond. We’ve lost our motivation and we’ve lost our passion. What can we do?

Rydyn ni wedi colli ein cymhelliant ac wedi colli ein hangerdd!📚💤
Some of my closest friends are close to giving up on their dreams because they haven’t settled and they’ve yet to find the motivation to study this year. I can relate to them. How does the Education Minister expect us to feel motivated for the unknown? #AskKirsty👆
One person said that their “teachers are unmotivated”. I don’t blame them! This situation is totally unprecedented and yet the expectations of our teaching staff are increasing daily, placing them among the hardest-hit. What is @WelshGovernment doing to help teachers? #AskKirsty
Responses were wide-ranging; some people expressed their distaste for face-to-face learning whilst others mentioned how valuable it is. This highlights how different everyone’s experience of education is this year. Moreover, it highlights the need to #CancelAssessments.
@wgmin_education Some responses broke my heart. “It’s destroying my mental health” and “Toxic” were popular responses. This is how some young people are feeling about education this year. How can we resolve this? #AskKirsty 👆
When we’re asked to learn from home, we can’t switch off. We’re under more pressure and are still uncertain about how we will be graded. This is causing so much stress and anxiety! #MentalHealth #HomeLearning
For those of us aged 16-18, who may be looking at going to university, what do we do? We’re losing our will to learn because we don’t know what we’re aiming for. #AskKirsty

This goes without mentioning the injustices that #University students are facing right now.
Granted, these aren’t the views of every young person in Wales. However, I’d say they can provide @wgmin_education with a good idea of how we’re feeling!

Let’s spread the word.
