As such, the number of works councils is declining. Mostly because of management pushbacks and heavy administrative weight of setting on up. Currently, only roughly 10% (!) of the companies that could have a works council also have one. (2/7)
That's one of the reasons why Germany doesn't score that high in the @ETUI_org's #EuropeanParticipationIndex

But now government is planning some actions:
Proposed solution no. 1: strenghten the protection against dismissal for those employees taking an initiative to form a works council. (4/7)
