I want to talk about something important that has been brought to my attention: sexual assault in the liberty movement.

If you experienced sexual assault, I am so sorry. It’s a disgusting act and you did nothing to bring it on or deserve it.

I also understand that rape can be notoriously hard to prove in a court of law and I understand that no one wants to relive it.

All this said:

I will not name and shame the accused for you. A smear campaign is retribution, not justice, and while today’s women may have seen instant results a from this in recent years, metoo culture is not the way to handle it.

If you were assaulted, take legal action. If you did & it was fruitless, you were brave. Now take preventative measures so it may never happen again:

Conceal Carry. Open carry. self defense. pepper spray.

Anything less is absolute vulnerability.

Be the change.

I know we can’t always be vigilant and I know our attackers aren’t always lazy.

I Also know, We cannot legislate away the evil in the world with marches and regulations and sisterhood. There will always be those no one could save.

If God forbid you are caught off guard, or if you fought and were overpowered-

if can do nothing else-

Put all your effort into scratching them. A rape kit requires swabbing your fingernails for DNA.

Look for freckles, marks, moles, scars, anything that would give them away.

Use your senses. What did they smell like. Taste like. What did they say.

Do not shower. You’ll want to. But don’t. Go right to the closest emergency room. They will not make you wait.

2A is not about being violent. It is about being prepared to defend ourselves.

We are our first and last line of defense.
