Ugh. When I first watched the video of that guy getting kicked off of the plane I cackled. To me it is, and has been, so obvious: Trump is a liar, a narcissist, and a master manipulator. What a Rube this dude must be. Yet, as I see the video retweeted more and more...
...my cackle reduces to a chuckle. I hear the total sense of betrayal and despair in his voice. I think about how bad this last week was for me--I was literally terrified for my life. But. It's even worse for him. He came all this way because he honestly believed Trump...
...He really thought that there was a massive conspiracy of voter fraud. That Trump was the only voice speaking truth. He knew that the truth would come out, and that he could do something for his country and vindicate his cause. He listed to the speech and did as Trump asked...
...But what happened? Welp, to me, it's predictable. But to someone who fully believes the lies--what a rude awakening. Pence refuses to help--the final Judas to Trump. The outrage. The chaos. The mayhem. They risk their lives. Several die in order to find the truth...
...And after waiting, looking, fighting, marching, getting pepper sprayed... Trump says: GO HOME. It has all failed. The tide rises. Trump is silent. A day later he totally disavows you, and admits that Biden will take control anyway, and then disappears. Now...
...You're stuck: hundreds of miles from home. The FBI is looking for you. Everyone hates you. You're totally in the wrong. Everything that you believe has been shown wrong, and worst of all, the dude that you thought cared more about this country than anybody doesn't give a damn.
I'd like to think it'd never happen to me. I know a lot of lovely folks though--poor, white, country folk, whose children are my godchildren. Folks who fed me and let me stay in their doublewide when I was hungry. They believed Trump till the end. They are wonderful people, also.
Is that this man's story? I don't know at all. But if my friends could've spared the change to come up, they would have. It would have been their story. Jesus died for these folks, and although some were just trouble, the majority believed. We've all been robbed.
I fully believe that the congress must impeach Trump for the stability of the government if we are to continue as a nation. But. Let us not foist all of our anger for him towards all these folks. Some deserve it, but most are to be pitied. Jesus, make our hearts like unto thine.
