Someone on my NextDoor tried to start a thread about the mayoral election but all the comments are saying things like “homelessness isn’t caused by a lack of housing” “renters don’t have pride nor are connected to their community” and other greatest hits.

On the other hand there’s a great thread about if a new “renters loan” being offered by a bank is good it bad. With nuanced and interesting takes happening.
“When I moved to Seattle I didn’t have the 5k required to start renting, even though my job would easily pay rent. I was lucky I had established Seattle friends to borrow from. I’ve since returned the favor to two other young individuals having to pay first-last-deposit.”
