I would really like it if non-Jews talking about Kristallnacht took some time to learn about everything the Nazis did between 1933 and 1938.
In 1933 alone they:
• banned all non-Nazi political parties
• banned trade unions
• banned Jews from jobs in journalism & civil service
• started forcibly sterilizing disabled people
• established the Gestapo
(continued...)
• banned gay organizations
• burned Hirschfeld's queer research library
• legalized indefinitely imprisonment without charge
• gave Hitler the power to make laws by fiat

That's just in one year.
By the time Kristallnacht happened, the Nazis had already invalidated Jewish passports, banned interracial marriage, started imprisoning gay people, made membership in the Hitler Youth compulsory, invaded Austria, and established Buchenwald.
I remember finding out a couple of years ago that a lot of my non-Jewish friends had learned in school that Kristallnacht was the beginning. It wasn't. It was a continuation of five years of violence, cruelty and terror.
I'm starting to get some confusing responses to this thread, so just to clarify: this thread is not a dismissal of victims of other genocides, nor is it a defense of Trump or a dismissal of the danger he and his followers present.
Time to mute the thread.
