A) Fox is increasingly hearing from lawmakers and staff who are apoplectic about the paucity of information about the insurrection at the Capitol Wednesday.
B) Some are very upset at the U.S. Capitol Police and its leadership. Here’s how one longtime Capitol Hill hand put it to Fox: “The problem with the Capitol Police is that they think they are going to be defending democracy and they spend all day going through women’s purses.”
C) That said, it should be noted that the Capitol Police did an extraordinary job, dumping the Senate chamber and hustling ALL 99 senators, the Vice President, many journalists and aides out of the chamber just before everything devolved.
D) But, the anger over the lack of information days later is palpable. This is a statement posted by Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA):
E) Huffman: “One thing that disturbs me a lot in the wake of the deadly terrorist coup attempt: four days later, we STILL have not had a single public briefing by federal security officials. Not the FBI, not DOJ, not Homeland Security, not Capitol Police, not the military..."
F) Huffman: "You'd think one or all of these agencies would be answering questions and trying to assure the country the security threat is under control. That's standard procedure after any event like this. The silence is deafening.”
