The side-est of eyes at "my particular four-year degree is the reason I am not a conspiracy theorist who is in the process of undermining democracy"
Hilariously, this is coexisting with legal scholars Rudolph Giuliani and Alan Dershowitz being floated as the best hopes for defending POTUS against democracy, so I've seen a few threads about how Actually, Law School Is Rascist And Fascist Too
I'm also old enough to remember this summer's parade of academics confessing that their schools and their fields and to some extent even *they themselves* were racist, which does not exactly sell me on this "fight racism with education" project. We're talking SIX MONTHS AGO.
There is so much discussion from an equity standpoint about how credentials have become an arms race - how in many cases you need a four-year degree not just to get certain jobs that require knowledge acquired in those programs' courses, but to get ANY job that pays the bills.
At the same time, we're seeing the same people who talk about equity import that same thinking into other spheres. Now you don't just need advanced education to get a good job - you need it to be a decent human being who meets the minimum standard for functioning in society.
This will not end well.
